Our Mission

The IGH2A promotes constructive leadership and engagement with governments, industry, scientific community and end users to ensure that hydrogen can play its full part in transition to a clean energy economy and accelerates hydrogen economy through collaborative projects in close interaction with stakeholders.  The Alliance—through the papers it publishes, the ideas it generates, the future leaders it develops, the communities it builds, and the initiative programs it launches—shapes policy choices and strategies to create a more secure, affordable and sustainable energy for the world.

Our history

Since its inception in 2021, IGH2A has administered programs to examine the hydrogen economy issues.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Our commitments are to recruit, train, and retain a diverse team; foster and celebrate our diversity; and, ensure that our publications and convenings are inclusive.

OUR VISION

Human greenhouse gas emissions change the Earth’s climate in ways that the changed climate may dangerously interfere with humankind. Climate change is therefore considered to be one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. No single solution will suffice to deal with it. This challenge has to be jointly tackled by science, policy, business and industry, NGOs, and the general public. Hydrogen could be considered as one of the key solutions.

The Alliance has a coordinating Secretariat inToron, Canada, under the direction of the Director General who reports to the Steering’s Committee, under the leadership of an elected Chair who is responsible for the operational work of the organization.

Working groups

IGH2A currently has 5 structured working groups which bring together members across different areas of the value chain and develop thought leadership on the necessary policies and actions that need to be implemented to see projects come forward.

Working Groups consist of CEOs/executive board members of companies with relevant activities in research development, demonstration, industrialization, deployment of renewable or decarbonized hydrogen solutions or high-level representatives of other stakeholders.

The overall facilitation of the different activities is supported by a secretariat comprised of a Director General, and other staff as may be required.

Membership is open to those renewable resource States as well as members of the United Nations and all public and private actors with activities within green hydrogen industry. Such States become Members of the IGH2A by having signed our Agreement and having deposited an instrument of ratification, acceptance or approval.
